Poem: Writer’s Block written by Kevin Mai


This was my first performance at the Gypsy Den Cafe and my first performance ever. I had a great time doing it so I hope you enjoy. Many of us poets have a problem that you guys will never see Though we write out these rhythm and blues and deciding which rhyme to choose and feeling confused as to what to put down in words what feelings we want to be heard finding just the right verb or noun that describes how profound our wits can be. and mentally, we stress ourselves out trying to find an alternative route to alleviate this hole in our hearts and it tears us apart. Sometimes I lose sight of the separation between real life and my imagination. The writer has many boulders to face and while we can’t come face to face with these troubles in place we settle on wast-ing our lives away. Making sonnets and haikus and suddenly i lose my train of thought because what got me here and brought me sheer dumb luck as I have found it my mind can’t grasp around it but I might as well come out with it. You’re giving me writer’s block. I can write you a letter to last long after time I can tell a story just perfectly fine but in my mind I’m thinking of you and linking love to two I’m working on poetical verses and the worst is when im cursed with this constant distraction through various action and in what’s like a fraction of a second past i sense that time is passing fast and with the last look to my clock i see it’s 4 in the morning and i’ve got writers block And without a warning my
